No NEWS is not Good news for Ness!!

Well we've officially passed our due date. Janessa reached 40 wks (I guess that's the magic number), this past thursday (Dec. 18th). She has celebrated this milestone by hiking, massages, and anything else she can think of to speed the process up. It's been snowing here in Salt Lake and we've gotten probably around 1.5 feet in the past several days. We were trying to keep Ness occupied and under some physical capacity so we set off for a walk in the snow at the park. She even chased after Bridger and his captive duck for a while, but Delcia will not budge. At least it's beautiful out here. We'll keep you all posted. And this will probably be one of the first places we post a picture, when she does arrive. Keep tuned. It's looking like more of a Christmas baby than we'd expected.

It finally Happened!!!!

It snowed in Utah. Since the birth of Delcia isn't amongst us just yet, I had to make it out and tell the snow that she soon would be and that I might have to take a few days away from the snow. It's been a bare year, and we were definitely reminded of that on the out, but up top we were able to manage to find a few sweet turns. I was also reminded of how long it had been since I walked up a hill. I'll get um next time. So much for the ripping year squezzed in before Delcia.

Kirra Mar's in Town

Jillene, Colin and Kirra were in town for the week, so we had the priveledge of babysitting Kirra Mar a couple times. She is such a fun, sweet little girl with a big smile and lots to say- even though we can't quite understand her. She loves her uncle John and is always happy to see us and Bridger. She got so upset at our house one day and I finally figured out why- she couldn't find Bridger, he was sleeping under the table! She is a very funny little girl. We love having her around.

Oh Christmas Tree

Well, we barely made it home from Thanksgiving before Janessa decided we needed to get our Christmas tree. I guess helping Jenny and Chris and Grady pick out their's didn't help the matter. I held her off for a day delaying the inevitable and so she spent tuesday decorating the tree we picked out Monday night. I guess it's best to get that out of the way, since we don't know when we'll be heading to the hospital (it could be anyday, though Janessa isn't showing signs yet!). Hope you all are enjoying the impending holiday season. Godspeed.

Happy Thanksgiving

We are thankful that we were able to drive to Idaho and back with out incident and only a few potty breaks. As you can see Janessa is getting a little more plump to rival Santa for the holidays. We had a great time sharing Thanksgiving with some of her family up in Idaho. We all noticed Ness's cute stomach that jiggled when she laughed. We had plenty to eat and lots of entertainment between all the grand kids and uncle Chris of course. We went on a family excursion to hunt for a Christmas tree for Jenny and Chris. The dogs probably enjoyed the romp through the snow more than anyone else but we all had a great time and found the perfect tree. Some of us went to the pool while others saw a movie and John and Chris even got some fishing in.

Baby shower #2

I'm finally updating the blog! Don't ask me what I do with all my time, but it still seems to fly by. So a few of my good friends threw a baby shower for me last Saturday. They worked so hard planning it and it was obvious that they had put a lot of time and effort into it. It was really fun to get together with so many good girlfriends and to share this exciting time together. The shower was book themed, so everyone contributed a favorite childrens book addressed to Delcia. The books are really sweet and we can't wait to read them together. I also received some great advice and encouragement on becoming a mother. Scary!
Everyone has been so supportive and excited for us. We can't wait for baby Delcia to meet everyone. She will be surrounded by great role models and people who love her and will support her in life. John and I feel so lucky to have so many good friends and a great support group. Thanks to all those who came to the shower and especially those who put it together with lots of love and planning- Alicia, Brook, Charis, Jordan, Leslie and Trina. You guys are the greatest and I feel so blessed to have such great friends!

SEW sew Sew

Janessa has been rather crafty latelly, which is good. Our friend Alicia had inspired and taught Janessa how to sew up baby diapers, of which she has completed 3 (seen in the picture below). She also was very excited to make sure Delcia had a stocking for christmas. Anyways, She had another shower that her friends from Capital threw. I'll let her tell you about it sometime.

Aunt Pud

My sister Sarah has been in Colorado for some training and was able to pop on over for the weekend. We loaded up the car and took Bridger up memory grove on Saturday where he developed quite a drool stash. Of course we were able to do some other stuff too, before dropping her off at the airport Sun. We went to a movie Sat. night and church Sun. morning, but that's about all we had time for. We had a good time relaxing and visiting with Sarah and we are glad she got a chance to come out and see us.

Well, the shower was quite the party! Jeff and Steph opened up there beautiful house for all of us to get together. They did a great job of preparing for the festivities with the help of Jenny, Jami, mom and Timaree. Jeff, dad, Jake, Corbin, Josh and Sam all went golfing, while John and Chris went fishing. Noah and Eli joined us after a long day of rock climbing and lazer tag for the post party. We got to enjoy some great girl time during the shower, then see all the kids and boys of the family afterward. The shower included aunts and cousins that I have not seen in a very long time and was surprised and excited that they came to celebrate with us. Along with relatives, came some good friends... Heather and Chris' aunt Laurie, also Hilary from Colorado. It was really good to see everyone. We missed grandma Bev and the aunt Sarah's who all live too far away to have come for the shower, but who have continually blessed us with gifts, advice and best wishes. Regardless of how near or far, I feel so lucky to have such a great family and friends to celebrate with and welcome baby Delcia into the world. Thanks to everyone for all of your love and support!

Strawberry Fishing

Well, this saturday was a notable one... Firstly Janessa's family and friends had a baby shower for Delcia. Which means Delcia's uncle Jigidy and cousin G-man were in town. Since Grady is months old he had to sit this fishing trip out, But I'm sure he'll make subsequent ones. Unfortunately the fish weren't jumping into our nets like we expected, but I caught this nice Cutty on a mouse pattern I tied that morning. It's not all that often that something like that occurs. More on the shower to follow.

2 Months Left

Here is the latest belly photo. As of yesterday we are two months until our due date, Dec. 20th. We are getting excited and nervous. There is so much to do and so many books to read! We started our birthing classes last week and are preparing for a natural birth using the hypnobirthing method. So we are practicing the relaxation and breathing techniques and hoping for a smooth and easy birth. (Ness even practiced in the middle of the night when she got a charlie horse)

Bridger spends most of his day lounging on the couch or the bed. We do manage to go for a daily walk and he keeps me company when napping or catching up on some reading.
He has a really rough life.

Paisley quickly discovered the baby's cradle that we are borrowing from a friend. She decided this was much more her style than the two cat beds we have unsuccessfully coaxed her

with. Although I thought it was cute, John was a little more practical in thinking that we should put an end to this habit now rather than waiting until the baby arrives and takes over. John has since cat proofed the cradle with crinkled up newspaper, much to Paisleys disappointment.

John finished laying pavers to extend the driveway for carport use this winter. It was a huge project and took several weeks. Needless to say, I was not much help- I managed to carry two 6x6" pavers at a time and occasionally delivered lemonade. Bending over is becoming quite the challenge these days!
